How does trading stock options work?
cornacopia16 asked:
For instance, can I simply trade the contract cost without ever having an obligation to the shares? For instance, let’s say I buy a call contract at $2.50 ($250.00) and the next day the stock rises and the same call contract is worth $2.55 ($255.00). Would I be able to sale the same call contact for the $2.55 with no other obligations even before the expiration? Does it also work that way with put options?
Thank you

shorting DIA puts?
tmac5445 asked:
is shorting DIA puts for the 110 mark a good idea. Chances are largely in favor of the DIA not droping over 1,000 points in the next 5 trading days but my question is do people short these unlikely calls or is it too risky?

I just started investing in stocks this year and am finding the maze of details and information about investing methods overwhelming. I’m also sensing that those who make careers of this are in a much better position to know how to trade, whether using options, calls, puts, etc. I signed up for a number of newsletters from professionals who then try to sell me their services, claiming they have inside information that can make a lot of money. They charge anywhere from $100 to $6,000. for their “inside information”, and while I’m sure they know much more than I do I’m wondering what the rewards vs. risk is if I decide to use their recommendations.

Sold (Traded) A Saddle, Now The People Want To Return It?
mcdannells asked:
Hello Friends,
I traded a nice Aussie saddle for misc. things to a couple in a group we are in.
Just this morning we get a phone call wanting to trade the saddle back. We had already traded off a few of the things from this trade…and they had it on there horse so we do not know what kind of condition this saddle is now in.
I did not talk to the lady, but Mr. took the phone call and told me she wants to trade back.
This puts us in a BIG bind. I have been trading around most my life and can not remember when someone did this to me in the past. A trade is a trade. If they bought this saddle from us this would have been a little diffarent….I would have put the money aside. However they needed a saddle and did not have the money to pay for it.
What would you do, or what are your thoughts…
I will add the saddle while in our hands was very clean and no ware was present. We do not no what to do with the items we already traded, sold off that was part of this deal.
We are new to this group where we met these people. This brings up a hole host of problems. These people know everyone while we only know a few people in the group. So politics is involved….
Add, nothing wrong with the saddle at all, very sound. I was gong to use it on my young filly, but for health reasons this has to be put off. We told them we have a nice roping saddle they have a option to have as well. They choose this Aussie saddle for it looks flashy.

I just don’t understand why so many are losing big money trying to make money in stocks. This year i am making huge profits in the stock market buying call and put options. This market is so easy to make money in but every where i see people losing money and panicking.
